Summer fun is right outside the doors of Emil Bach House and Lang House Chicago. Visitors can enjoy the culturally diverse Andersonville neighborhood and Rogers Park. Both areas are packed with events and activities throughout the summer. Here are some of the North Side’s most notable events:

Rogers Park

Rogers Park anchors the North Side with 1600 acres of open space and is the home of Emil Bach House and Lang House Chicago.

June 18-19: Artists of the Wall Festival: For Father’s Day weekend fun, stroll outdoors along 600 feet of street art. This annual festival features local community artists who showcase their creativity on outdoor lakefront spaces. You can also enjoy live music and free performances.

June 24-26: Pride North Chicago: There are Pride celebrations in neighborhoods all over Chicago, and the North Side is no exception. Pride North takes place in Rogers Park, right off the Morse Redline. Enjoy featured DJs all weekend long. A suggested $10 donation goes to support Train Ride for Life.

July 8-9: Flatts & Sharpe Music Festival: This outdoor festival celebrates music and art with activities for all ages. Thousands of people join the festival to honor the area’s community diversity and local art while listening to a vast range of live musical talent.

July 21: Taco Crawl:  Savor Mexican fare from Chicago-based restaurants all in one delicious place at the annual Taco Crawl. Adults can also sample specialty beverages and tequilas.

Aug. 6: Chalk Howard Street Festival: Technology meets artistic talent at this 3D immersive experience. Marvel at artwork with lifelike 3D effects and enjoy global cuisine and items from local specialty shops.

Aug. 19-21: Glenwood Avenue Arts Fest: Cobblestone streets come to life with more than 120 artists exhibiting their latest creations. Craft beers, street food, and music on two stages add to the festival atmosphere.


Andersonville’s historic architecture and urban main street offer a unique neighborhood feel.  This neighborhood is less than 2 miles south of Rogers Park and is just minutes from Emil Bach and Lang House Chicago.

June 10-12: Andersonville Midsommarfest: Join in a weekend celebration of Andersonville’s Swedish roots. This beloved street festival features five stages with more than 50 musical acts and entertainers.

May 11 – Oct 19: Andersonville Farmers Market: Shop from local vendors offering everything from produce to pizza every Wednesday from 3-7 PM.

July 17; Aug 21; Sept 18 Andersonville Vintage Market: Load up on nostalgia and some vintage favorites from 10 AM -3 PM.

July 29-31 Sidewalk Sale featuring Andersonville Dog Days of Summer: Shop for bargains galore from dozens of local shops.

Aug 11 Taste of Andersonville: Choose a “Spoon Route” or “Fork Route” to sample the best of Andersonville restaurants from 6-9 PM.
