While a yoga retreat with your friends sounds amazing, often, the price of prepackaged retreats and the required travel time does not. A yoga retreat closer to home designed to meet your goals can provide the relaxation you deserve and some great bonding time with those close to you. So, gather your yogi friends and get your Zen on at a custom Chicago yoga retreat.

Pick Your Ideal Yoga Retreat Location

Your yoga retreat should be stress free. Pick an accessible location for your guests that provides amenities that complement your practice. Located in Chicago’s beautiful northside in Roger’s Park are the historic Emil Bach House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, and the Lang House Chicago, designed by Edgar M Newman. These beautiful Prairie Style homes can provide the perfect venue for your yoga practice and rejuvenation. Both homes offer unique space for your practice, and the Emil Bach House also offers an outdoor open-air tent, from April until late October. The tent is surrounded by lush gardens and soft green grass for the best outdoor yoga experience. Depending on the size of your group, you could rent one or both homes for the retreat. When combined, the homes provide multiple common rooms and outdoor gathering spaces, with lodging for up to 20 people and kitchens for cooking, as well as laundry rooms for those yoga clothes!

Beyond yoga at the homes, you can enjoy sessions on the shores of Lake Michigan just one block away. Add in a sunrise practice, meditation session or restorative yoga on the beach at the end of the day.

Find the Perfect Instructor

What type of yoga would you like to practice during your retreat: vinyasa flow, ashtanga, yin, restorative yoga or a combination of different styles? We can reach out to the local yoga studios to find an instructor or a variety of instructors for your retreat. Have a favorite yogi? Bring them along to help run the show!

Set Your Goals

Make sure the retreat is a success by working with your yoga instructor/s and the venue to make sure the schedule and activities will result in a restful reprieve:

  1. Do you want to start early each day or give everyone a chance to sleep in?
  2. How many sessions do you want each day?
  3. Do you want to end each day with a restorative yoga session?
  4. Do you want instructional classes where guests can refine their poses?
  5. Are meditation sessions of interest?
  6. What food options are available that could complement your health journey?
  7. What other wellness activities would you like to incorporate?

Your retreat location can help you to define additional wellness activities based on what is available. The Emil Bach House tea house is a tranquil space where your mind and body can be refreshed. Calmly transition from your yoga sessions by enjoying a cup of tea to wake up your senses. Another relaxing option is to indulge in some time in the Lang House Chicago sauna or massage room. Our Hospitality staff will work with you to locate professionals that are available to provide spa treatments such as massages and facials during your stay.
