CHICAGO – (September 15, 2018) Community members and Frank Lloyd Wright enthusiasts enjoyed a late-summer evening of music, architecture and history at the Emil Bach House After Hours event on Thursday, Sept.13. The beautifully restored home built in 1915 is Chicago’s only Frank Lloyd Wright-designed rental property.

The event hosted by the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust had volunteers on hand to explain the meticulous two-year restoration as guests wandered through the home. Wine and appetizers were served, and a live band played on the large outdoor grounds that includes a beautiful Japanese Tea House and Gardens.

“It was a great opportunity for people to see the space in a unique, relaxed way,” says Christina Ruscitti, director of tour operations and guest experience at the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust. “The event allowed visitors to see the architectural significance of the home and experience how the space can be enjoyed as a rental.”

The Emil Bach House is an expression of Frank Lloyd Wright’s creativity just before his work shifted stylistic focus. The first-floor is anchored by a central fireplace, around which the living room and dining area wrap, with an enclosed kitchen completing the encircling rooms. Built-in seating around the hearth, along the front windows, and a built-in dining table maximize space for circulation.

Guinevere Guilford from Grayslake, Illinois attended the event to learn about the detailed renovation.

“It was interesting to experience the fluidity Frank Lloyd Wright created as we moved throughout the home,” says Guilford. “I love the combination of a historic renovation with modern amenities. I could see myself moving right into the house.”

The Emil Bach House includes two bedrooms, two hallway bathrooms and a study. It is available for whole house rentals for up to six guests and to host a variety of intimate events.
